Beautiful evening at St Kevins Arcade for PechaKucha AKL 38. The talented Paul Petch captured this shot of my talk on the Aurora. Good times with some great speakers. Hopefully they'll have me back for another one!
Beneath the surface
I've been gathering my creative thoughts lately..
It's even been a week or so since I picked up the camera. Being creative is a very dynamic job, and I enjoy all parts, there's a great synergy between the action of taking a photograph out in the field then coming back to process it. I enjoy both parts of the development process immensely, going out to find imagery is really exciting. It's an adventure & I get to visit some incredible places.
I also love the editing process. This is where I get to play around and paint with the images. re-create the feeling of a place as it was experienced. I also get to listen to great music and pod casts.
Whilst listening to some really inspiring stories today a thought came to mind.
The loudest arguments happen in your own head and your greatest opponent is indeed yourself. It's quite common to blame external pressures for stopping our own progress towards the things we're most passionate about, but the truth is we're probably just scared of how awesome we can actually be.
Dig your nails in and scratch beneath the surface a little...

It's a presentation style in which I get to talk about 20 slides for 20 seconds each (about 7mins total) If you're in the Auckland region come along, there's sure to be some incredible speakers!
I'll be talking about my adventures chasing the Aurora Australis, which is something I'm incredibly passionate about!!

Silence is bliss.. Music is better
Helped out with the visuals on my friends show last weekend and it was pretty incredible. Seeing a few of my time-lapse sequences up on the big screen was Amazing. Rhian's show featured a whole host talented New Zealand musicians as well as Orchestra Wellington. Live at the Opera house. Hoping this show gets the opportunity to travel!
Keen to explore this more..
I like planes.. they’re fun
Last night I saw my friend Vaughn and I said “Vaughn, when are we going flying in your plane? Vaughn replied “I’m taking Jimi up in the morning, Wanna come?” I said “yeah sure” so we went flying.. did a loop of the sky tower and saw a few cool things. I like planes.. they're fun.

TEDxAuckland
I was asked to speak about my latest Exhibition Dark Cloud / White Light at TEDx Auckland 2013. I used this opportunity to showcase a few still images from trip that most people have never seen. Check it out!
